Description
The Ram pickup truck, formerly under the Dodge umbrella is Stellantis’ full-size pickup offering. Since 1981, the Ram pickup has been a sturdy load carrier that offered single or full crew cab configurations with two or four-wheel drive. As the generations passed, luxury entered the mix too, and the current fifth-generation sees creature comforts commonly experienced in full-size luxury sedans and SUVs too. Want exclusivity? This is one of only 875 Ignition Edition TRXs built.
Exterior and Interior
This 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition looks butch and mean with its bright Ignition Orange paint job, and rolling on 18-inch black wheels that are exclusive to the TRX trim. These wheels are wrapped in some seriously chunky 35-inch tires that back up their off-road chops. Being a Crew Cab, you get two rows of seats to accommodate up to five occupants in the cab. TRX graphics and dual-tip exhaust round off what is a very potent-looking package. The interior is in black with Copper Head accents and features leather seating for five. A clear analog instrument panel communicates all critical information to the driver, whilst the central touchscreen controls the climate and infotainment systems. The sporty, flat-bottomed steering wheel sports paddle shifters as well, and metal sport pedals are present too. The trailer steering system aids in towing a trailer and is controlled via buttons on the center console as well. Further buttons can be found for the 4WD system, including activating low range and locking the differentials. The TRX mode selector allows changing drive modes to suit, and there’s even a launch control button! To put it briefly, this truck is dripping with tech that one doesn’t expect to see on such a workmanlike vehicle.
Engine
This 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition is powered by a 6.2L supercharged Hemi V8 that’s known as the Hellcat. This monster puts out 702hp and 650lb-ft to all four wheels via an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Armed with launch control, this insane machine does the zero to sixty sprint in an eye-popping 3.8 seconds which is supercar territory. 100mph flashes by in under 10 seconds, and at 118mph, the speed limiter kicks in. Bilstein shocks to ensure that handling is up to par for such power, and large disc brakes on all wheels ensure that it stops properly too.
